Terms and Conditions

This list of Terms and Conditions forms part of the agreement when you hire a boat from Rods BBQ Pontoon Hire. Hiring of our boat is an activity that is undertaken at your own risk and while we take all care and supply all safety equipment, no responsibility for injury or death is accepted by Rods BBQ Pontoon Hire. 

As hirer of one of Rods BBQ Pontoon vessels you are responsible for any damage to the vessel unless our insurance policy covers the accident or loss of the vessel. In the case of a successful insurance claim an excess of $500.0Q may still be payable. 

However, if the vessel you have hired is returned late or you are unable to return it on time because you are lost or you are stuck on a sandbar or for any other reason, then a late return fee and rescue mission fee will be charged. This would be $75.00 per hour late fee paid to Rods BBQ Pontoon Hire and approximately $200.00 per hour paid to the VMR if needing to be rescued. If needing an extra hour of hire this will $50 per hour

ARRIVAL 

We ask that you arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to your booking time to complete all necessary forms and undertake a comprehensive safety induction. In consideration of our schedules, please ensure that you are punctual. Arriving late will be deducted from the time of hire. No shows will forfeit all monies paid. 

HIRE DURATION 

Full Day Hire: boat 1 (10 seater) 8am-4pm (8 hours) 

boat 2 (12 seater) 9am-5.00pm (8 hours) 

Half Day Hire: 7.30am-11.30am or 12.30pm-4.30pm {weekdays Monday-Sunday only). Please be aware that the timely return of the vessel is your responsibility and unfortunately we do not supply a refund if you return the boat early. 

AREA OF DURATION 

Our cruising grounds extend north to Cabbage Tree Point and Slipping Sands at North Stradbroke, far east as South Stradbroke {known as The Pin) for fishing, lagoon for swimming, beach and sandhills, as far south as Tipplers Restaurant and as far west as Harrigans Pub at Calypso Bay. A map will be provided with the operation area clearly marked. Operating outside of these areas at any time may result in termination of the hire. These rules are in place for your safety. 

ALCOHOL AND DRUGS 

Please be mindful that the legal limit to drive a boat is the same as that of a car {under 0.05) and is enforced by police. The nominated skipper on the day may not be under the influence of any illicit drugs while in charge of the vessel. Failure to obey the law will result in loss of monies paid and termination of hire. The nominated skipper can be one or more persons of your choosing and must be 18 years of age or older. Some boating experience is an advantage but is not necessary. Also please note that it is prohibited to consume alcohol in a public place and therefore should not be consumed when arriving at the marina as this may result in termination of hire. Rods BBQ Pontoon Hire reserve the right to terminate or refuse hire to any patron if deemed unfit. Sorry but there are no pets allowed on the vessel, assistance dog exempt. STRICTLY no smoking allowed on the vessel. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES is anyone allowed on the roof of the vessel. This carries a heavy penalty and is prohibited by law. 

STATE OF VESSEL AT TIME OF RETURN

We ask that you use the bins provided for all of your rubbish and you keep the vessel as tidy as possible. The cleaning of the bbq will be undertaken by us at end of hire. Please be mindful of the toilet and respect this facility. No feminine hygiene or foreign product is to be placed in the toilet. A bin is supplied. Please only use the toilet paper supplied. We also ask that any accidents be cleaned up prior to return of the vessel. A blocked toilet caused by a foreign object or misuse will result in a fee being charged. A cleaning fee of $50.00 will be charged if the vessel is returned excessively dirty as determined by Rods BBQ Pontoon Hire. 

CANCELLATION

Cancellation of hire for reasons other than instigated by us, because of strong winds (20 knots or over) or severe weather conditions, will result in loss of monies paid but we will attempt to reschedule to a suitable alternate day. No Refunds but the booking deposit will be held as a credit to be applied to an alternate date suitable to both parties. As weather can be unpredictable at times we check forecasts on the morning of hire and make determination at this time with your safety in mind. We reserve the right to cancel a vessel hire up till 6.30am on the day of hire.
